Outreach comes in many sizes and shapes. It is always about Jesus, and it always takes time.
If you keep your schedule in your phone or written down somewhere, I encourage you to do a simple little exercise at least once every thirty days. Look back over the previous two weeks and see how much time you spent serving and caring for people who do not yet know the amazing love and grace of Jesus. Be honest, look closely, and examine how you spend your time.
I am convinced that most Christians tend to isolate and insulate themselves from the world. The longer we walk with Jesus, the further we walk from the world. But, Jesus left the glory of heaven and entered human history. He spent a lot of time with people who were very irreligious and far from God.
We should do the same.
If you do this little exercise and discover that you regularly and joyfully spend time with people who need to know Jesus, rejoice in this and keep it up. If you have to honestly admit that you don’t spend much time with those who need to meet the Savior who loves them, change your schedule. Look ahead a couple of weeks and block out time to be with friends and family who need to encounter the Savior of the world. Find new and creative ways to connected with those who are spiritually disconnected. You will be amazed what God can do in and through you when you simply make time to share His love and grace.
